Virgil Ware was 13 years old African-American kid, an eighth-grader.
He had 5 other brothers, was an A-student, and aspired to be a lawyer.
In 1963, Larry Sims and Michael Farley, age 16, were planning to attend a white supermacist rally,
but it was canceled after the Birmingham bombing.
So instead, they went and purchased a Confederate battle flag, and attached it to their scooter so they can
ride it in a Black neighborhood.
Once these boys saw Virgil and his brother James, Farley gave Sims a pistol, and told him to shoot at them to scare them,
he ended up shooting Virgil in the cheek and the chest, killing him.
