O’Neal Moore

O’Neal Moore was a 34 years old, and the first African-American deputy sheriff in Louisiana.

In 1965, O’Neal was going back home after his work shift, with his partner Creed Rogers.
When someone drove past them and shot at them, O’Neal lost control and crashed into a tree, but he died instantly
due to the gunshot wound in his head.

His partner survived, but suffered injuries.
The vehicle that approached them was said to have a Confederate flag on its front bumper.
A couple of white supermacist suspects were arrested, but no charges were filed.

It was believed than an alleged members of the KKK did the drive-by shooting.
