Michael Ramos was a 42 years old Black Hispanic man, an only child to his mother.
His mother said that her son was “big-hearted”.

In 2020, Michael was in his car with his girlfriend, when police officers ordered him to exit his vehicle,
hold his hands up and to lift his shirt, due to a 911 call that reported that he and his gf may be armed and smoking crack.

Michael complied with the officer’s orders, showed them that he has no gun, and asked them not to shoot.
Few seconds later, officer Mitchell Pieper fired a “less lethal” bullet known as a beanbag projectile,
which scared Michael so he tried to enter his car and escape, which led the officer to fire 3 shots at the car,
killing Michael.
