After being accused of offending a white woman (which had no proof).

The woman’s husband and his half brother, went to Emmet’s great-uncle’s house, used racial slurs, then kidnapped Emmet.

They later tied him up then took him to a barn.

They beat him, shot him in the head, then dumped his body in a river.
